ScotRail are one of the most incompetent rail franchises in the UK and rank alongside Avanti West Coast.
Sadly when visiting this part of the UK, need to rely on both, sadly 9/10 one or the other disappoint.
Today, I was getting a train from Annan to Dumfries - 2 minutes before arrival there was an announcement saying the service was cancelled with no explanation.
This meant a one hour wait for the next scheduled service.
I took to X/Twitter and tagged ScotRail and sent them a DM.
The reply came back as below:
Hi there, sorry, this was due to a broken down train, David. These issues can happen suddenly which leads to short-notice cancellations ^DB
The fact of the faulty train I understood and replied stating so but my main point is how can a service be cancelled with two minutes notice when the journey from Carlisle to Annan is around twenty minutes, as they knew the train wasn't leaving Carlisle it should have been announced straight away.
Despite asking in four different messages why there was only a two minute announcement of the cancellation with no explanation they are not able to give a reason and just ignoring last couple of messages.
