My thoughts are with the family and friends of Jay Slater following the discovery of his body earlier this week in Tenerife.
The public both here and abroad have shown great generosity in both donations and going to the area and helping with the search for Jay.
The fund today has reached 71K and still growing.
I understand completely that sending people from the UK etc to help with the search needed funding and thankfully the great generosity of many made that possible.
Jay’s mother has issued a statement that included asking for the donations to keep coming to give Jay a send off that he deserves.
I understand their need for the send off but is it right to still be asking for donations?
Out of curiosity what happens to any leftover funds ?
I have messaged Lucy Mae who is the organiser of the GoFund page but had no reply, likewise the page is still showing all the original information put up when Jay first went missing.
Surely out of respect to those donating this should have been updated as misleading if donors do not know the full story and outcome.
Something tells me we would hear there was no funds leftover and I don’t think we have heard the last on the appeal and it’s funds.
The fund today 24/7 is at 73K and all is quiet from the family - personally if you want my honest opinion - I smell a RAT and l make no apologies for saying so as the Slater family are showing no respect to the donors in keeping them informed of what is happening to their money, I say ‘their’ meaning the donors.
